Samsung Teases Galaxy Z Fold 2 At Unpacked

Samsung announced a boat load of devices at Unpacked today, but there was one device that was only a tease – the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is expected to launch later this year, and Samsung gave us a glimpse of the new device as well as some of the specs. Though, there’s still a lot of questions about the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Samsung has said that it will provide more details on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and availability in September.

Both screens are larger, and notch-free

One of the big features that everyone who owned a Galaxy Fold, wanted Samsung to change, was the screen sizes. Particularly the outside screen, which was tiny with huge bezels.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 2, both screens are now larger. The Cover Screen is now 6.2-inches and nearly bezel-less. While the main screen is now 7.6-inches. Both are using Samsung’s Infinity-O displays, which means that these are hole punch displays.

This means that you have a pretty large display when the device is closed and then a more square-ish display when you open the phone. Making multi-tasking a whole lot better.

As expected, Samsung didn’t talk much about new features with the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It did mention that it is “listening to user feedback on the most requested upgrades and new features.” Also noting that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with meaningful innovations that offer users enhanced refinements and unique foldable user experiences.

Samsung is partnering with Thom Browne again

Like with the Galaxy Z Flip from earlier this year, Samsung is again partnering with Thom Browne. So there is going to be a Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne edition.

For those that are unaware of what Thom Browne is, it’s an iconic New York fashion house. So if you’re looking for a foldable phone that is more like a piece of jewelery, then the Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne edition is the one to get. And rest assured, it will cost more than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 2.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be available in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze – which you can see in the gallery below. It’s an absolutely stunning smartphone from Samsung, and should be a big upgrade over the original Galaxy Fold.

Samsung has not yet released specs either, but we expect it to run on the Snapdragon 865+ and likely be a 5G smartphone. We’ll find out more next month.
