Paris Hilton, who starred in The Simple Life with Nicole Richie, posted on Twitter that she would be running for president this year. Shortly before, Kanye West announced on Twitter that he would be running for POTUS in the 2020 election. Paris has a cute campaign slogan that’s a little tongue-in-cheek.
Paris Hilton is a reality TV star from the early to mid-2000s. Her TV show was called The Simple Life and her co-star on the show, Nicole Richie, used to be her BFF. While making the TV show, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie experienced what it was like to live the way average Americans do. During their time on the show, they were cut off from their cash and had to work for a living. They attempted to do everything, from farm work to hotel cleaning to house chores. Because they weren’t used to this lifestyle, their work rarely met the standards of their superiors. Sometimes, kind strangers helped them out when their earnings were running low. Flash forward several years later… Paris Hilton is making a comeback, by tweeting that she’ll be running for president.
Paris Hilton tweeted “Paris for President”, along with an American flag emoji, after Kanye West announced that he would be running for POTUS. In addition to Paris Hilton’s surprising tweet, she’s shared her new ambition several times on Instagram and Twitter. In one post, she asked fans if she should change the Oval Office in the White House to a “Heart Shaped Office”. She also mentioned that part of her campaign would be to support the American workforce by only wearing American designers from now on. Many of her posts demonstrated her modeling talents and featured “Paris for President” in pink, Barbie-style letters. As with Kanye’s presidential announcement, the response to Paris’ declaration that she’ll be running for president in 2020 was mixed.
I pledge to support the American workforce by wearing only American designers: @TheBlondsNY between Memorial Day and Labor Day, @aliceandolivia the rest of the year. Unless I wake up and the day is screaming for me to put on a bikini for my fellow Americans 🇺🇸👸🏼 Country first!

Some people showed their full support while others expressed their frustrations with the way 2020 has been going. Someone posted the infamous picture of Paris wearing a shirt printed with the words, “stop being poor”. Others stated that Paris should definitely not be running for President. Of course, the jesters of Twitter and Instagram got their fair share of witty comments in, too.
The fact that Kanye West and Paris Hilton have announced that they are both running for this very important job is equally shocking. However, it’s unclear whether Kanye and Paris are seriously running for president. It’s especially suspicious that they both posted about their presidential candidacies around the same time. Many other celebrities have poked fun at the 2020 United States election by stating that they’ll be running, too. It’s more likely that all celebrities who claim that they’ll be running for POTUS are looking for a little free publicity. Time will tell if Kanye’s name will appear on the election ballot, along with the name of the former star of The Simple Life.
